Background Checks Can Only Be Done With Your Permission
Depending on the type of job you are applying for, your employer may request any number of these services. Shadow Trackers cannot do a background check without your authorization. Generally, you will sign an authorization form when applying for a job that allows the employer to run a background check. A background check should never be done without your permission.
According to the Shadow Trackers website they aim for a 72 hour or less turnaround time for background checks.
Mistakes on background reports from companies like Shadow Trackers that specialize in employment screening can be especially damaging. Even if you do not have a criminal history, a mix up with another person’s file can show otherwise to a potential employer. When your background check or credit report from Shadow Trackers is wrong, you have the right to dispute the errors.
In the event that an employer takes adverse action against you due to the information provided in your Shadow Trackers report there are requirements they must follow.
The employer is required to give you a copy of the report and the contact information for Shadow Trackers. They are also required to provide you with a summary of your rights under the FCRA.
If you do not receive this information from the employer you may have a case against the employer along with the background check company.
Your rights under the FCRA also give you the right to dispute errors on your Shadow Tracker reports.
Once you file a dispute with Shadow Trackers, they have 30 days to investigate and prove that the information they have is correct, or remove the errors.
