A class action lawsuit was recently filed by Francis Mailman Soumilas, P.C. in Connecticut federal court against Yale University regarding the school’s failure to partially reimburse tuition payments for the Spring 2020 semester when the school shifted to online-only classes during the COVID-19 pandemic. An undergraduate Yale student is seeking a partial refund for the tuition and fees paid for in-person educational services. The plaintiff alleges that Yale University provided an inferior learning experience once it stopped providing in-person classes in March; the school could no longer deliver the educational services, facilities, access, and/or opportunities that were paid for. In an interview with Fox News, lead attorney Jim Francis explained that a student would not receive the same educational experience online that they would from attending on-campus programs; on-campus education brings incredible opportunities for learning and personal growth that online programs cannot.
